Overview

 
The OptivaView™ SNMP Management Suite serves as the Optiva platform interface for status and control. The utilization of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) offers a uniform software platform for efficient integration with other systems. An agent on the Optiva Controller card collects status data from all other Optiva cards in a chassis. General User Interface Management Software Module analyses and displays the data to the user. The OptivaView™ General User Interface Management Software Module will enable fiber optic link status, bandwidth management, operations and fault detection, logging, and system check features to run diagnostics for system health inspection and verification.

The Controller Card (OPV-CTLR-IC) occupies a single slot in any Optiva™ chassis. The standard Controller Card can control all Optiva™ systems operating in a single chassis. The Controller Card connects to a standard 10/100 Ethernet Cable via the TCP/IP protocol. The user uses a standard web browser to configure and monitor the Optiva™ Platform. A Management Information Base (MIB) is integrated within the OptivaView™ SNMP Controller Card. The MIB collects, stores and provides all information required by the Network Management Software to understand the data presented by the OptivaView™ SNMP Controller Card

The interface software for the OLX-3000 physical layer optical switch is LinxView. LinxView allows the user to view and control all port connections on the switch. Configurations can be made, viewed, and saved offline without affecting the switch. LinxView™ allows the user to monitor the health of the switch chassis and port cards. A Command Line Interface is also available. After logging into the switch via Telnet or SSH session, one can issue simple commands to change topology, emulate faults, and acquire unit health and status information. CLI commands are sent via a 10/100 Ethernet connection or an RS232 connection.
